Fireworks show will be held this Saturday July 9th
The Fireworks show will be held this Saturday July 9th as the planned rain delay day is utilized for the first time in 38 years. It will be shown in it’s entirety with some new and innovative displays including a sensational grand finale.
We were fortunate that no one was seriously injured as the crew who sets up and fires the display were pelted by the large hail and winds shears that hit them as they were about to take the protective tarps off the barges to move them on to the lake to start the show. Apparently, Doppler radar had just shown that the storm would hit north of Lake Orion. Christian Mills the owner of the property who allows us to set up the barges on his property said that the six team members were heroic in holding on to the tarps to protect the fireworks from the storm as it hit with such ferocity that it snapped a hugh oak tree in half two lots north of them. Once the storm subsided they placed the barges in position on the lake and attempted to start the show, but the ignition system had been compromised by the rain storm causing shorts which led to an electrical fire which was quickly extinguished. There was no way to know a problem existed until the attempt was made to fire the first rounds.
